Tomato & Basil

Size: 12” x 12” Oil on 7/8″ Gallery Wrapped Canvas
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Sunday, September 21st, at 9:00 am CST

This week’s painting features a simple but vibrant kitchen still life: two full tomatoes, one sliced open, with fresh basil resting above and a knife set to the side. The composition feels like a pause in a quiet cooking moment, the ingredients waiting to be transformed.

Tequila & Limes

Size: 14” x 11” Oil on 7/8″ Gallery Wrapped Canvas
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, September 13th, at 9:00 am CST

This week’s painting features a tequila bottle, two filled shot glasses, a single lime wedge, and a group of fresh limes gathered just behind them. The crisp clarity of the tequila contrasts with the vibrant green of the fruit, while the glass bends and distorts the limes in subtle, playful ways. The wedge beside the glass adds a personal touch, suggesting a moment just about to begin.

Three Pears

This week’s painting features three Bartlett pears against a muted grey wall. A soft light from the left reveals their gentle curves and warm golden-green tones.

Chickadee & Cup

The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, August 23rd at 9:00 am CST

This week’s piece features a black-capped chickadee perched on the rim of a white porcelain cup. The scene is softly backlit, with pink and golden tones in the background that give it a gentle, ethereal feel.

Magnolia & Waxwing

Size: 11” x 14” Oil on 3/4″ Gallery Wrapped Canvas
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, August 16th at 9:00 am CST

I love featuring birds in still life setups paired with a single object. I haven’t painted a cedar waxwing before, and this magnolia-with-vase felt like the perfect pairing.

Girl with Swan

Size: 24″ x 12″ Oil on 7/8″ Cradled Wood Panel
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, August 2nd, at 9:00 am CST

This week’s painting depicts a peaceful scene featuring a girl reaching toward a swan as soft, peach-colored light glows across the water. The whole thing felt a little dreamlike to paint which I enjoyed so much!

Girl with Shark

Size: 16″ x 16″ Oil on 7/8″ Cradled Wood Panel
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Sunday, July 27th, at 9:00 am CST

To close out Shark Week, I wanted to share a painting inspired by it – something a little quieter than the usual dramatic shark content, but still carrying that same sense of awe and unease.

This piece shows a young girl standing in front of a massive great white shark at an aquarium. She’s safe behind the glass, but there’s a hesitation in her posture, curious but cautious. I loved painting that tension: the stillness of the moment, the scale of the shark, and the feeling that something powerful is just on the other side.

I’ve always found sharks both terrifying and fascinating (thank you, Jaws!)

Girl with Sparrow

Size: 12” x 12” Oil on 7/8″ Gallery Wrapped Linen Canvas
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, July 26th at 9:00 am CST

After the breakthrough I had last week painting my very first person, I couldn’t wait to start another. Something about stepping into the world of figures after so many years of still life painting unlocked a part of me I didn’t realize had been waiting.

This week’s piece features a young girl holding a sparrow in her hands, with soft golden backlighting. There’s a quietness to the moment, like the world is holding still with her. I leaned into loose brushstrokes and warm light, letting instinct lead more than precision.

I’m not sure where this path is headed yet, but I know I want to keep going. Figures, birds, small stories – I’m in.

Girl with Butterfly

Size: 14” x 11” Oil on 7/8″ Gallery Wrapped Linen Canvas
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, July 19th at 9:00 am CST

After over 20 years of painting still lifes in oil, I realized I had never once painted a person. Not a single figure, not even a hand. I think I was always a little intimidated by it – so this week, I finally decided to challenge myself! This painting is my first attempt at capturing the human form – a quiet moment of a child reaching out to a butterfly. I wanted it to feel nostalgic, dreamlike, and full of that wide-eyed wonder we all start out with.

Cat vs. Water Glass

Size: 12″ x 12″ Oil on 7/8″ Cradled Wood Panel
The original painting along with fine art prints will be available on Saturday, June 12th, at 8:30 am CST

This week’s painting features a cat mid-mischief, one paw hovering close to a glass of water ready to push it off the edge of a table – But why do they do this though? Still love them either way 🤣
